Q: How was it possible for Mary the mother of Jesus to conceive a male child without the Y chromosome?

A: Jesus was a man in every respect, including a "Y" chromosome. The difference was the way in which Jesus was concieved or "begotten." Consider: Hebrews 1:5, "For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?" On the day Mary was "overshadowed" by the Power of God Jesus was begotten. In John 1:14 it says, "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father) full of grace and truth." where the term "was made" literally means "came into existance." When Mary was overshadowed by the Holy Ghost the "plan" or "mind" (the reconciliation of fallen man to God dwelling in the flesh of the man Jesus: 2 Cor 5:19) of God came into existance in flesh and supplied the genetic material with which she concieved. Put another way when Mary was overshadowed, God manifest Himself within the "egg" of Mary. This has deep significance that I will go into at another time. Jesus was the seed of Mary fulfilling the prophesy in Gen 3:15 making the flesh (also refered to as "that Holy thing" in Luke 1:35) the son of man (not of a man, but of mankind) and of the One True God (Spirit). This is the only vessel fit to hold the express manifestation of God. Notice that God says He would put emnity between the Devil and the "seed of the woman." This has a significance in that the sin nature is passed on though the seed of the father, (but that is another topic!) and as we read above God is Jesus' Father and father therefore He had no sin nature.

This is a good question but the more important one is will we serve Him no matter how He got here? I always hate when someone says "because He's God " when I ask a question like this but in this case it really is the answer. God "thought" Jesus into existance!

To my mind you have not answered the question put to you. What you have done is quote scripture at me. Let me put it another way - Where did the Y chromosome come from? Did God manufacture it on the spur of the moment? Did he take it out of someone else and put it into Mary? or does he have the Y chromosome himself?

A: Sorry, my daughter says that sometimes I explain things really well - if you already know what I'm trying to explain. The reason I quoted John 1:14 was to define the word "made" which means "came into existance." Since the egg already existed we must conclude that it is the "Y" chromosome that came into existance when Mary was overshadowed by the power of God. This was an act of Divine creation similar to the original creation (manufacture?).

The "Y" chromosome could not have come from a man whether through divine invetro or not, since the "Adamic" or sin nature is passed through the male because Eve was fooled by the serpent while Adam "chose" to disobey God. If you dent the bread pan each loaf of bread is "dented" too.

As to how God can by the power of His Will cause a "Y" chromosome to not exist the one moment and then exist within the egg of Mary the next I am reminded of what God said to Job when He asked him where Job was when He called forth the Universe from nothing and hung it upon nothing.
